Can you paint a car with a single stage air compressor (6.5@ 90 5 @ 40) 30 gallon?
Want to do spot painting auto quality on fenders etc and I bought a non industrial air compressor 115 volt for my limited electricity in the home. People suggest HVLP – but will I run out of air if I hit a entire car?
I recommend an HVLP sprayer. You can pick up a cheap one for around $40 at Home Depot / Lowes/
The 30 gallon tank will continue to fill as you use it. You will need to keep it plugged it.
Also check the PSI rating on the gun and how long the hose is you will be using from the tank. The longer the hose the more PSI you will need. The HVLP will need at least 60 lbs of pressure.
To do spot painting on the car isn’t as easy as it sounds. You will need to watch your spray pattern out of the gun and keep it straight to the fender. If you don’t move your wrist as your spraying it will go heavy in some areas and light in others.
Hope this helps,
Mike

you can do it,,just lower the pressure on the gun a little,,a paint gun doesn’t use that much air,,its not a direct loose of air,,it should be OK,,we painted a boat out side and it looked real good with one,,good luck, hope this help,s..have a gos x-mas.

You can do it but your timing will have to be spot-on. HVLP will help a lot but 30 gallons will dissappear before you know it — not good to have air pressure drop to zero while spraying the roof or hood. Just stick to a pattern that works and try to avoid shooting any school buses unless you rent an 80 gal unit.
